06/23/2008 12:00 AM The Kelliher City Council gave the go-ahead at its June 16 meeting for the fire department to purchase new turn-out gear. Greg Vollhaber and Bob Cribb presented the council with bids for the gear and a thermal imaging camera that will be also be purchased. Most of the department’s current gear is about 20 years old. A grant from the Federal Emergency Management Agency will pay 95 percent of the purchase and the department will pay the remainder.
06/23/2008 12:00 AM In the first extensive use of Beltrami County’s new liquor licensing ordinance, commissioners Tuesday denied a license, citing provisions that applicants be of “good moral character and repute.”
Commissioners last August enacted a tough new ordinance for the licensing and regulation of the sale of alcoholic beverages.

In last week’s Outdoor News in the Cuff and Collar’s, there was an article about a fellow falling out of a boat. It was Joe Slez from Illinois. He and Tom Goodin were out fishing and the conservation officer was watching Tom’s boat.
