Blackduck School losing two long-time coaches

Between them, they have 37 years of coaching experience. Obviously, they leave very big shoes to fill. At the June 9 meeting of the Blackduck School Board, the board accepted the resignations of head golf coach Don Houseman and head girls softball coach Dwight Kalvig.

Blackduck chamber seeks pictures, paddlers for dragon boat

The Blackduck Chamber of Commerce needs pictures for a new tourism brochure and paddlers for its dragon boat team. Chamber members met June 18 at Blackduck Telephone Company.

Liquor license denied to area residents

In the first extensive use of Beltrami County’s new liquor licensing ordinance, commissioners Tuesday denied a license, citing provisions that applicants be of “good moral character and repute.” Commissioners last August enacted a tough new ordinance for the licensing and regulation of the sale of alcoholic beverages.
Cliff Tweedale of the Headwaters Regional Development Commission led members of the Blackduck 2020 group in a discussion on how each member preforms differing roles that together can make the group successful.

After months of compiling and analyzing data, reviewing results of a community survey and hearing from the public, the Blackduck 2020 group has reached the point where action is now required.

Class of ‘88 reunion

Week ending June 1 Thursday, Rosie Sutton, Max and Nina Cheney, Lorraine Peck, Letha and Donna Sutton hosted a luncheon in the community room. Special guests were Eleanore Hammond of Sante Paula, CA and her two daughters, Margaret and Beth, and son, John, who are vacationing in Minnesota.
